MINING CRISIS
NEGOTIATIONS FOR A FURTHER
MEETING.
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received 22nd July, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 21st July. The "Daily Herald" says that the coal negotiations are now likely to result in pressure on the owners to withdraw their proposals. The ' owners, after meeting the Court of Inquiry, sent a letter to Mr. A. J. Cook, secretary of the Workers' Federation, proposing a meeting for the purpose of exploring the misunderstanding of the' owners' position. They feel sure that it will show that there is now no difI f erence between the parties on this p*re- | liminary point. The miners' executive will consider, the letter to-morrow morning, and if they consider the employers' assurances satisfactory a joint meeting will possibly take place in the.afternoon.
