(U.NIXED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPIEIBHT.)
cr.EUicn's telegram.) PARIS, 20th July. M. Painleve, the Prime Minister, announced that Marshal Petain would remain in Morocco as long as circumstances demanded. He added that peace negotiations were proceeding, but at the same time all the necessary measures were being taken by the French to consolidate their front, and to deliver a decisive stroke which would ensure lasting peace. Abd-el-Krim had been informed that two official emissarie* of the French and Spanish Governments were in possession of the terms of peace, and Abd-el-Krim could learn them if he wished. LONDON, 20th July. "The Times" Paris correspondent says that Abd-el-Krim still appears confident of achieving a positive success.; Several unofficial French emissaries have been in contact with him lately, but have given no sign that he desires to consider peace terms. Consequently the French and Spanish conditions drawn up in Madrid have not been communicated to him, but he knows they are available when he wants them.
