Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided a» the Magistrate's Court to-day. Henry Firth, a third offender for drunkenness, was fined £2, the amount of his bail.

LOWER HUTT SITTING.

The fortnightly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Messrs. W. N. Dempsey and C. B. Robinson, J.P'e.

Driving a horse and cart at night without a light cost Roy Clifford 10s and 7s costs.. A similar offence' cost James Gigger 7s 6d and 7s; Gigger was also fined 7s 6d and 8s costs for leaving his horse and cart unattended.

The following penalties were inflicted on persons for cycling at night without lights :—C. Ackroyd, 10s and costs 8s % K. Bargh, 12s 6d and costs 10s; William Coombe, Roy Jackson, James Sutton, Annie Arnold, O. Donnelly, and M. W. A. Lynch, each 12s 6d, and costs 7s; Colin Gordon, M. Mockridge, E. WakeSeld, A. Cotterill, and J. Fisk, each 12s 6d, and costs tik; Mary Claughton, 10s and costs 12s; William Hitch and Lucy Walters, each 10s and costs 10s; R. Lee, 12s 6d and costs 9a; May Pitcher, lO.s, and costs 9s.

Allowing stock to wander cost William Hayes 10s and costs 7s; James Lewis, 15s, costs 9s; G. H. M'Meeldng, 10s, and costs 10s; Andrew Oumminge, 10» and costs 9s;;' F. Twomey, 15a «,nd costs 7s.

In the civil case W. R. N&nkivell v. E. Hobman, judgment wa» giv.sn plain* tiff by default, for the Bum of £3 and £2 2s 6d costs.
