NEW ZEALAND APPLES

TWO GOOD SHIPMENTS

HATAKANA CONSIGNMENT

OVER-RIPE.

(FROM OUB CW» COItMSPOJiDEOT.)

LONDON, 11th June.

Several ships carrying New Zealand apples have arrived in London during the last ten days, and except for those of the Matakana, the fruit has been in excellent condition. In the Matakana consignment several varieties were overripe, and a prominent Covent Garden broker who handled a quantity is of the opinion that they became heated after packing. London Pippins were the worst of the varieties, but some of the Cleopatras were wizened up. Dunn's Seedlings and Jonathans were also affected. Prices, however, were reasonableJonathans made 15s to 18s, Dunn's 15a to 18s 6d, Premiers 16s to 17s, Delicious 16s 6d to 17s 6d, Adam's Permain 17s, and other varieties 16s 6d to 17s.

The Tairoa apples were in good condition, prices ranging as follow;—Cleopatras 20s to 225, Dunn's 18s to 18s 6d, London Pippins 16s to 16s 6d, Jonathans 16s 6d to 18s, Delicious 16s to 18b, Russets 17s to 18s, and Adam's Permains 16s to 17s 6d.'

Yesterday and to-day the apples by the Maimoa have been selling very well, having arrived in the very licet condition. Jonathans have been making from 17s to £1, Delicious 18s to 18s 6d, Adam's Permain 17s, King David 17s to 17s 6d, and other varieties 16s to 17s.

Hot weather is the cause of a great demand for fruit of all kinds, and apples share in the general demand.
