The bridge at Thornton was washed away, and settlers are'stiJl faced with anxiety. The extent of the damage cannot be fully ascertained until the waters recede. An aged Maori woman was drowned at Te Teko. The total rain during the last seven days was 7£ inches. Passiingera for Matata yesterday traversed tie flooded areas by boats.,
