It should not consist wholly'of experts who are shunters only by obser-ya.tion,!'-he declared. ' 'It should bo open^ ;to: the Press' so . that; the public may realise the ; difficulties, responsibilities and risks, run "by;; shunters. The sbciety should have the opportunity of appointing their.own representative." Mr Mnoladded that onl9th June his Society w t ott to tho Minister of: Railways asking that an independent tribunal be set up to to into'the question of the cause of shuiitinV accidente; that - tho order of " reference should be sufficiently wide to embrace^ all aspects .of ;shunting;work; and that it _should sit in the main centres to ob-twn-.evidence from; men actually engaged in shunting work.
