WOMEN CONDUCTORS
• The controversy concerning the refusal of the Auckland City Council to grant a bus conductor's license to a woman promises to be revived, the Gity Council on Thursday evening again refusing to issue a license. Application was made to the -council last September by Miss Mi A. Glass for a, bus conductor's license, but this -was Tefused, and in spite of repeated applications and agitation from several quarters, the council decided to adhere to this decision. In January last Miss Glass notified the council of her intention to commence Supreme. Court proceedings by way pi a mandamus for the council to consider her application and deal with it on its merits. These proceedings were commenced but they have- now! apparently been suspended or withdravra; for at the meeting; of; the .council on Thursday evening Miss; Glass:again'made application for a; license (states-.'the VNewZealand_ Herald").. c This .\request was considered by the-: council. in ■ committed and- at. .the, conclusion'at.; was •Reported, that the council had decided Ifo adhere to lts.former resolution ■ to" refuse-the application. - ':-,;■/ ■; '-,:; , ;' ?;';;/ ,: -r
