In 1792 he published^ his famous pamphletl with the long title °, J "Ajl Inquiry, into the Obligations of Christians, to use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens in which the Ec- J li gious State of the different Nations of the World, the Success of Former Undertakings, and the Practicability of .-Further Undertakings, are considered by William Carey:" From the cobbler's stall Carey" passed .to the pulpit at the Baptist Chapel, ; South.
