were waiting f or in the House of £! presentatives yesterday afternoon was fntP^T /°" fr°m Jlr Wilford tha* rnnfi f °- T° an, amendment of noconfidence in the Government, but they did not getst. Perh this ' to be expected in view of the fact that to be held to-night to decide the fata ferre!f X' °f the dde^tcs wh° ™- feried at the recent fusion conference. However, the fact was 'that so far as the Liberal benches were -concerned they were silent on the" question ~bf noconfidence, so Mr. Holland lost no opportunity offsetting in with a notice that he intended to move an amendment to the Address-m-Reply. Of course, this does not rule out the possibility of- the Liberals still taking action agamst the Government, because the HoSsels. to ,then that fusion is as dead as the dodo the Liberals may show on that "occasion what their attitude towards the Government is going to be. Furthermore, I \-?° nd may not be t firsfc with a nostile amendment, because Mr Wilford, when speaking on the Address-ln-Reply, will, if he chooses, be able to move an amendment which' may bs put to the House before that of the Labour Leader's.
