(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPIRIQHT.) (REDTER'S TELEGRAM.) LONDON, 24th June. Play at Wimbledon was delayed by intermittent rain, which. set in this ■morning, and became persistent in 'the afternoon. The centre court was covered. A small crowd of enthusiasts persisted in barracking, hoping to draw out the competitors. The rain ceased at 5.20 p.m. Play was opened on two courts, which had been covered at 5.25 p.m. Play again was interrupted, but was continued at 6.15 p.m. Borotra and Lacoste defeated the Indian Davis Cup players, Lai and Dr. Fyzee, after which the crowd stampeded the centre court to'see Mile. Lenglen and Miss Eyan defeat Mrs. Lycett and Miss Coyler. Both matches were in the first round.' They concluded the day's programme.
