FRANCE AND SOVIET
A STIFFER ATTITUDE
"MOSCOW-DIRECTED PRO-
PAGANDA"
CHANGE UNDER M. PAINLEVE.
(0H1129 PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPtMOBT.) CPUBLISHED IN THB HUES.) (Received 26th June, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 25th June. The Paris correspondent of "Tho Times" says that, coinciding with despatches from Moscow^ to the effect that tho Soviet leaders are disgruntled at the poor results which Krassin has hitherto obtained in his negotiations with France, comes news of a marked stiffening of tho French Government's attitude to' Russia, mainly attributable to the recent growth of Moscow-directed Communist propaganda, especially-in Morocco. The correspondent declares that whereas during the Herriot regime the suggestion that there should be a united Allied policy towards the Soviet was treated with scorn, .there is now evidence, in its relations with Russia, that the Painleva Cabinet intends to consult more closely the common interests of France and Britain, which are considered to be equally threatened.
