"QUEEN'S SHIP" AS HULK
The barque Buckingham, known by, shell-backs the world over' as "The Qu? e, n's Ship," is to end her days as a coal hulk. The passing of the wind-jam-mer, which is the only merchant vessel Queen Victoria ever launched is announced in "Sea Breezes," a Liverpool shipping magazine. • Since December 1922, according to advices from Newcastle (N.S.W.), the barque has graced; Double Bay, ajid now the Waratah Coal Company is mentioned as a-likely' purchaser. The sale price is about £2,000 The vessel has undergone extraordinary changes of fortune since she was launch ed 36 years ago. Her figurehead was a beautifully; carved image, of Queen Victoria, and the Queen had the unusual experience of. smashing a bottle of wine against her own image.
