COST OF LIVING
WAGES AND SUPERANNUATION.
Several questions regarding wages remuneration were asked when the' House of Representatives reassembled yesterday afternoon after the opening ceremony. First of all, Mr. R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs) gave notice to ask whe-' ther the attention of the PostmasterGeneral had been called to the very low wages paid to messengers employed in thfi Post and Telegraph Department. This was followed by an announcement from the Leader of the Opposition (Mr T. M. Wilford) that he proposed to inquire whether the Government would apj point a Jndga of the 'Supreme Court, or other suitable person, to inquire into the matter of superannuation of members of the Civil Service, including the question of anomalies: Mr. W. 15. Parry (Auckland Central) slated that he was going to ask whether the, Minister of Labour would set up. an inquiry by'an organisation on which Labour would Ijc represented to uccidc v.!i;,i should be Lhc basic wajje to afford a fuir living, ■ -
