"The Times" Brussels correspondent states that another effort is being madeto solve Belgium's protracted Cabinet crisis. Vicomte . Poullet, the FlemishCatholic leader and Minister of the Interior in the Theunis Government, has undertaken the task. He hopes to form a tripartite Ministry, or. failing Liberal support, a Catholic-Socialist Cabinet. If he fails, dissolution may be the only way out.. The Theunis Cabinet, a Liberal-Cath-olic , coalition, resigned on sth April, the day of the General Election/ The Liberal strength was reduced from 33 to 24, and in view of its reverses, decided to take no part in the Government ; and though the Catholics numbered 78 and the Socialists 77, the King sent for the Leader of the Socialists, M. "V undervelde, whose request for Liberal co-operation was refused by that group. Ho reported himself unable.to form a, Ministry, and on" 11th May 'M. Vandovyere, a I'leinisli- Catholic leader, was put forward as Prime Minister. He founed a Ministry, but it was opposed by the Socialists, and- was promptly put out of office when the Deputies met. -Then M. Max. the famous burgomaster' .of Brussels; attempted but failed last month , to form a Ministry.
