EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS
MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Ihc Eastbourne Borough Council met last evening under the chairmanship of the Mayor Mr. H. M. Jones), the followmg also being present : Councillors J. -L. Lamg, S. Edilson, H. Black, E G itolmes, S. H. Jenkinson. C H \u drews, and H. J. Levy. According to tho Finance Committee's report, the district fund account for April showed an expenditure of. £300 19a 6d, most of which was for wa^es and salaries. For a similar period last year the expenditure was £410 0s 3d The receipts for April, 1924, totalled £99 18s Id, £31 17s Id being from rates, ioo 11s from the coalyard, and £14 Us from tennis fees. For. last April the receipts totalled £242 2s lid, of which £214 6s 9d was for rates, and £12 11s 6d for tennis fees.
Building permits for the month of April totalled £725, fees thereon bein" £2 15s. . , °
The Works Committee recommended that the Eastbourne Eugby Football Club be allowed to take up a collection at the gates of tho Eecreation Ground each Saturday during tho football season. It was also recommended that tile Football Club's request for extra lights at the south end of the Recreation Ground and in the dressiii"sheds be held over pending the receipt of further information. The recommendations were adopted.
