(Received 15th May, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, 14th May. A stir has been caused in University circles at Cambridge by a proposal to prohibit the students from using motor vehicles.. Several members of the Senate sent a memorial to the Senate Council urging the prompt application of the ban. Recently the proctorial syndicate reported on the same subject, and recommended that undergraduates should not be allowed to use cars before midday, or later than 8.30 in the evening in the winter and. 10 o'clock in summer. The report stated, among the reasons, that a few of the undergraduates used cars and cycles for driving undesirable young women into the country. It adds that only a few behaved badly; others foolishly.
Other reports call attention to the number of accidents in which students have figured.
