A- message from Rabat states that the rapid organisation of the French supports lias stayed the progress of the Riffs.
There was an earlier defensive period in which the French had put up an heroic resistance. In this period a detachment of engineers was surprised when constructing a pontoon, and had to fight its way back at the point of the bayonet.
