CENTRAL TELEPHONE EXCHANGE
The. Secretary, Gcnel'al Post 0/nco, ahuounces that a building which is destined to beeomo Wellington's cental telephone exchange has been erected for the Tost and I'elegraph Department at t]m corner of Featherstoh and Stout streets. In addition to accommodating (ho switching apparatus required for tlio lillimato conversion to automatic workitir of Hie whole of the public telephone service in Wellington, offices are provided in (ho new building for the District .lelagraph Engineer mid .his staff, who are responsible for the ■ city's telephone service. The new building is to bfe occupied, on Monday next, from which date public telephone business, such as application for exchange connection, payment of accounts, transfer and removal of telephones, inquiries, etc., will be transacted in the public offices provided in the new _ building. Facilities will, however, continue to be available in the General Post Odice building for the payment of accounts.
