CIVIC LEAGUE CANDIDATES
Messrs. H. A. Huggins, G. A; Troup^ ■ J. Aston, and W. H. Bennett, briefly ad- . dressed electors afi" Kelburn last evening. Mr. Troup expressed tho opinion that the periodic overhaul of civic affairs "by ' business exports was advisable- With that view Mr. Hujgins also expressed his agreement. Councillor Aston maintained that the existing city rolling stock should not be tampered with, and that if the council linked up dead-end tramway services by means of motor-buses competition need not bo feared. Councillor Bennett contended that he was the most abused member of the council, because of the positions he held oh the Milk Committee and the Investigation Committee. He said that the latter had done exceedingly good work .many of their recommendations having been actually adopted lo the advantage" of the city He advocated tho connection of Upland rond through the Botanica Gardens to Salamanca road and the helbum p aratle to Ingestre street, the latter being subject to the transfer or llie lerraee Gaol site to the Education of the Ivelburu tram because he consider, ed the money could be better utilised in making another similar convenience. Mr Dennett outlined a number of other connections which" were possible and would be found necessary in the near future. "•
