ORDERS DISOBEYED
The conduct of a cook on the steamer Ruahine, ~F. A. Watson, was investigated at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when he was charged with tlisob'eying the commands of an officer on the high seas. . Mr.. 11. F. O'Leary, who prosecuted, explained that the defendant, who was second cook, did not get on well with the chef, and refused duty. "The position is curious," said Mr. O'Leary. "Ho won't work, and he won't take li'is discharge." ' The ship's officers were not anxious to take the defendant back, and as Watson seemed willing to leave the. ship, the. Magistrate remanded him till Thursday to givo him an opportunity of obtaining his discharge. -.
