"THE BROKEN WING."

"The Broken Wing," the second production of the Thurston Hall Company at the Grand Opera House, certainly rivals the propaganda comedy, "So This is London," in popular * opinion. For one thing it is quite as novel, though in an entirely different direction, there 13 a really splendid thrill when the English aviator crashes into the Mexican stage picture (an opening thril!, not a final effect as in accepted pictured drama construction), the character portrayals, particularly that of Mr. Thurston Hall as Captain Innocencio dos Santos, are excellent, and about the whole production there is something more gripping than .the mere surface story and the heat relieving touches of humour given by the prayer of the much-wooed Inez (Miss Gladys Webster) for a "gringo 1' husband and its answer in one day, although Inez had expressed a willingness to allow 50 days for that miracle. Probably the key "to the full success of the play is the fact that the atmosphere is truly reproduced, for prior to embarking'upon the production Mr. Hall made a trip through Mexico, and so was able to sketch his characters from Jife. "The Broken Wing" will be staged this and to-morrow and Friday evenings.
