NEWTOWN CROQUET CLUB
A large number of members of the Newtown Croquet Club • and . many friends were the guests of the president; Mrs. Underwood, at the club's lawn on Saturday. Tho weather being all that could be desired, a very 'enjoyable afternoon was spent. Prizes won during the season and for the corepotitions were presented by tho president, who generously donated them. The following were the winners:—Underwood Brooch, Miss Powell; ladder matches, first grade Miss Powell, Mrs. Johnson, second grade Mxc". Remmingbon, Mrs. Vine. Competitions were held for guests and club members., the winners being:— Guests: Angles and targets, Mrs. Lind-,, say (Timaru); peg, Mrs. M'Dowell (Kelburn) ; French, Mrs. Henderson (Kelburn). Club members :. Angles, Mrs. Priddle, Mrs. Phillips; targets, Miss Petersen. Mrs. Rae; French, Mrs: Rae, Mrs. M'Millan ; peg. Miss Petersen, Mrs. Johnson. The secretary (Mrs. Johnson) was presented with a handsome silvermounted salad bowl arid servers as an appreciation of the work she lias done during the season. A dainty afternoon tea was served in the club's pavilion. On the president declaring the season closed, cheers were given for the president and secretary." ...
