LEAGUE CANDIDATES AT : WIRAMAR . .
In support of the candidature of Messrs. J. Aston, , P. Meadowcroft, H. A., . Huggins, M. T. Bourke, B. G. H. Burn, and G. A. Troup, a meeting was held :'in St. Aidan's Church Hall, Miramar, last evening. Mr. S«. ;M. Stone, presided over a fair attendance. 'The address given by" the Mayoral-candidate, Mr. G-.8. Norjvood, is reported above. ..'. :•.:■ Mr. Bour'ke .said .he had,been associa■ted with five'-ltfca},bQdies, and" if returned his position onthe council would.not him unprepared or inexperienced in "so far as administrative matters were concerned. He strongly advocated the establishment of playing; areasj'tor- children. He would be prudent'ln'; regard to sanctioning further • expenditure 6n; tramway extension, in view of the' expanding competition of bus services. ;lii regard to the promise made by the present Mayor to supply a playing ■ area ,to Miramar in substitution for the area iwhich had been taken away, Mr. Bourke eaid that he would do his best to meet this need; . . _ Mr. Huggins spoke chiefly of the financial aspect of the city's affairs.
