SYDNEY, This Day. .■ A meeting of the New South Wales Cricket Association expressed itself as strongly in favour of the retention of the eight-ball over. Reference was made to ii. X R. Gilligan's recent cabled opposition, and it was pointed out that the English captain had no statistics on his side. He himself was not a fast bowler and Howell had seldom: been used to advantage. From a slow bowler s point of view the advantage was beyond question.
_ Gilligan is reported to have said during an interview on Saturday that while tn 6 eight-ball over made no difference to batsmen and fielders, it was too fatiguing to bowlers, especially fast bowlers.
