GENERAL ELECTION
MR, SEMFLE NOT A CANDIDATE.
(IS TILISRIPH.—SPECIAL TO TBB POST.)
DUNEDINy This Day. Mr. Semple, in declining a request by the Dunedin Labour representation committee to allow his name to go forward as a candidate for one of the Dunedin seats, at the General Election, says he has received requests from all over the Dominion to stand, but is undecided whether he will accede to any of them. He adds: "There is a great deal to do in the industrial field, and it is my opinion that the workers are losing ground there every year. I recognise the need for political action on the part of the workers, but naturally I would prefer to fight from the industrial side."
Sir Patrick Hastings, M.P., for Wallsend, a.nd Attorney-General in tho last Government, has written a three-act drama, "The River," which will be produced in London in the spring.
