TO-CONTROL BUSES
Competition from motor-buses is proving so serious to the Auckland municipal tramway seryice that the Mayor (Sir James Gunson) has issued a statement announcing that there must be a further retrenchment in the staff. In addition the financial position is such' that the recoiislruction of tracks will havo to be curtailed considerably. The general question, of competition by privately-owned omnibuses with municipal tramways is to bo discussed at n conference cf representatives of the local bodies in the four centres, to bo held at a data;' to be. decided upon.
