EMPRESS THEATRE.
The> Savoy Havana Band concluded a highly successful season at the Empress Theatre last night. There will" be a complete picture change to-night, the feature being "The Grass Orphan," a j British production, starring Margaret Bannernian in the part of the mother too bent on dress and pleasure to think of her little son at home. . The boy himself is played by Peter Dear. Other well-known artists in the cast,include Reginald Owen, now : playing . with Matheson Lang, and Douglas .Munro. "The Grass Orphan" is ..'adapted from Miss X A. R. iWylb's "."Pauper's".' of Portman Square," and ;is the tale of; pleasure-loving parents who neglected their offspring and who were taught a ■well deserved lesson.' Heathcote St. John, having an income of £12,000 per year, married a beautiful girl, who devoted heart arid soul'to clothes, dances, and society. As for Archie, their little son; he had every possible toy his heart could wish, but he hungered for 'more of his' mother's kisses. Heathcote and his'wife were not really unkind, but thejr forgot their child-in their wild pursuit -of pleasure. Mr. M. Dixon's"orchestra will provide incidental music.
