'-.-■ It is announced that the whole jquestibh of compensation for damage to property on the Rand in the 1922 upheaval will be submitted to Parliament for decision.^ The question arises from Lloyd's repudiation of claims on the ground that compensation could not be recovered in respect of damage by Government forces. On the other hand, ■the Government Compensation Commission ruled that compensation/could not be awarded in the case of insured property. The Minister of Finance now intends to propose that such." claims bo met;from, the public funds.
