PROPOSED CONFERENCE
ATTITUDE OF DOMINIONS
IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT PRESSES INVITATION.

The Australian Pres3 Association is authoritatively informed that not a single Dominion has definitely approved or disapproved of , the suggested Protocol Conference.' Australia, while pointing 'out the;'inconvenience of attending-the Conference, has postponed a decision pending bir L. E. Groom's arrival. Canada and South Africa preferred a cable consultation, but are willing to appoint a representative if the other Dominions are: represented. New Zealand is reluct.ant but willing, if necessary. India and -Newfoundland are awaiting the decisionof the other Dominions. Meanwhile, the Colonial Office emphasises the concluding passage of Mr. Amery's dispatch of 2nd December: "There is one pressing matter raising issues affecting the 'vital interests of the whole Empire on which personal consultation is in the view of the Imperial Government essential._ I refer to the Protocol for the Pacific settlement "of international dis-'i .-putes."
