SUICIDE BY OWN INVENTION.

Joseph Born, a- German chemist, who came to England to sell _ proqesses for manufacturing gyn-; thetjcally cocaine, santonin, and nicotine, a, letter was read in which the deceased said; "I must die by my own invention. Isn't it funny?" , A Evidence was given that Born had received an offer of £2500 when he demonstrated his ability to make nicotine, but he encountered difficulties and had to borrow mpnqy. He wrote to.the chemists with -whom he was negotiating:' "I am sorry to inform you that it is now too late to accept ypur offer. I have spent all my money-and all is lost. I -myself and my children-are threatened with being put into the street. I cannot pay the r, ent, and buy food. This is my last day."
A verdict of suicide by poisoning wnile of unsound mind was returned.
