Kear-Admiral Heard, who is a paßsenger by the Osterley, interviewed concerning Sir Frederick Eacon'a oriticism of Lord Beatty at Jutland, says that the live of fighting ships was twenty miles in length, and it would have been impossible for Admiral Beatty to havo conveyed more information than he sent by wireless to Admiral Jeljicpe regarding tho movements of the Germans. So lone . was the fighting lino and so disconnected was the British contact with the. enemy ships that it was only guesswork to say definitely what course the Germans were steering.
