South Africa won the first unofficial Test match against England by nine wickets. The English, team made 198 in the first innings and in the second scored 149 (Jameson 4, Parker 1, BaTtley 8, Russell not out 26, Marriott absent, extras 5). Nupen captured five wickets for 33 runs.

South Africa, in the first innings, scored 295, and in the second have lost one wicket for 53 (Catterall 17, Susskiud not out 24, Ling not out 9).
