PERSONAL MATTERS

Sympathetic reference was made at last evening's meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board to the recent deaths of Mr. Neil M'Lean, foreman carpenter, and Mr. E. J. Glennie, late of the accountant's staff.

Mr. 3. M. Morice, Engineer in Charge of City Waterworks and Drainage, who was to have left for Hawkes Bay on holiday leave to-day, is confined to his bed.. Mr. James Ames, City Valuer, has also been indisposed.

The Press Association announces the death of Mr. David Redpath, aged 43, a prominent Christchurch business man and sportsman. For some time he was .president of the Canterbury Cricket Association, and a, member of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Association.

Sir Thomas Henderson, of Hawick, Scotland, accompanied by Lady and Miss Henderson, arrived by the Maheno at Auckland on Tuesday. He intends stay-ing-for some time in the Dominion, combining business with pleasure.

The death is announced, by cable from London to-day of Mr. William' Blake Odgers, K.C. He had been a barrister of the Middle Temple since 1873, and director of legal studies at the Inns of Court since 1905. He was also Professor of Law at Gresham College since 1907. Ho. was also the write;- of a number of books on legal subjects, his text books on "Libel and Slander," " Pleading find Practice," " Evidence," and " The Law of Libel" being generally used by all students.
