GRAFT CHARGES
PROVED TO COMMISSION
FURTHER INQUIRY URGED.
(BNITEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPTRISBT.)
SYDNEY, 17th. December.
The Royal Commission's report finds that Cropley's charges were sustained, and passes severe comment on Alderman Walker. With regard to other allegations, it points out that there is clear ground for the Government proceeding with investigations, but makes no recommendations as to what action the Government should take with regard to the charges proved. The report points out that there are strong grounds for further investigations.
Cropley made a chargo that he was approached by two persons who informed him that the Sydney City Council would pay him £14,000 compensation for the .surrender of his leases of a certain city building, if he paid £1000, which, it was stated, was to be passed on to certain individuals.
