PETONE SITTING.

The monthly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr. C. K. Orr Walker, S.M. - Howard Bond, for being on licensed premises after hours, was fined £2 and 7s costs. In this case there was a strong conflict of evidence between Constable Scarry and two witnesses for the defence, and the Bench stated that \t believed the constable had told the exact truth concerning the matter. A. J. Kearns, for failing, to'send his child to school, was fined 5s and 7b costs Dugald Ferguson pleaded guilty to failing to.obtain a license for his motorlorry under the. heavy traffic • bylaw The fixing of the penalty was adjourned until January. Albert Barnes, for failing to blow the horn on his motor-lorry when approaching the intersection of a street, was fined 10s and 7s costs.

Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil cases : —"Hutt and Petone Chronicle" v G. M'Uvrido, £3 15s, costs £1 5 S 6d • C. H. Manning v. G.
