BOWLING

DOMINION TOURNAMENT

SECTIONAL DRAW FOR RINKS AND PAIRS

The tournament committee of the Dominion Bowling Association met last night, Mr. F. Meadowcroft presiding.

The secretary (Mr. R. W. Shallcrass) reported that 130 rinks had entered for the tournament, 158 pairs and 144 singles. The rinks had. been divided into ten sections of twelve, and one section of ten; and the pairs into nine sections of fourteen, and two of sixteen. Mr. Shallcrass said it should be possible to terminate the sectional play in the pairs by the Friday night; and he recommended that the final of the ■pairs should be played on the afternoon" of President's Day.

It waa reported that it had not yet been possible to make the draw for the singles. Authority was given for the secretary and treasurer to make the draw.

The entries for the pairs and singles were eta^ed to be much fewer than last year.

Mr. Shallcrass -suggested, and it was decided that a consolation competition be provided on the second day for those who had been put out on the first day of the singles, the entrance fee to be 2s 6d, and prizee of £3 3s and £2 2s to be awarded.

It was agreed that the final of the pairs be played on the afternoon of President's Day.

The following greens are to be used for the rinks and pairs :—Wellington (2), Victoria, Hataitai, ' Ne'wtown,Thorndon, Kelburn, Lower Hutt, Khandallah, Petone, Karori. The Petone and Karori greens will not be used for the singles.
