The Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works) has returned to Wellington from the South. He will remain in Wellington until 18th December, when he will leave for the North to spend the holidays.
The Minister of Labour fthe Hon. G. J J. Anderson) will return to Wellington ! from the'South-on'Sunday. The Hon. "W. Downie Stewart (Minister of Customs) left last night for Dunedin, where he will remain" until after the holidays. Mr. Millen Paulin, of Wellington, left by the Tahiti this afternoon for' San Francisco. Mr. S.. Jf. Spenee, of New Plymouth, left W^'tagl?11 this afternoon by the Tahiti for San Francisco. Dr. A. H. M'lndoe, of Dunedin, is a passenger by the Tahiti, which leaves this afternoon for San Francisco. Mr. C. A.; Mooney left. Wellington this afternoon by. the Tahiti to '* take over the duties of sub-manager to the Union Company at Earotonga. _ Mr. H. Baldwin has accepted the position of representative to the Lower Hutt Borough Council on the Hutt Valley High School Board. Mr. Ramsey Wilson, who has been on a visit to Auckland, returned to Wellington last night. Mr. FranK Goldberg, governing director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Limited, returned from Sydney yesterday by the Tahiti. Dr. Allan G. D. Fisher, who was a lecturer at the University of Melbourne, has accepted the Chair of Economics at the Dunedin University. He received the ' degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the London University in October. Dr. Fish- j er, who is aged 28 years, will sail for ■ New Zealand by th.c Mooltan on 19th De- ! ceraber. Mr. Walter George Smith, at his re- v sidence, 87, Owen street, Wellington. Mr. Smith, who was 71 years of age, was a musician of no mean, ability, and i'o"*/i We^ known in musical circles. In 1874 he married the. second daughter o£ Mr. George Hawkins, of H.M. Customs, and one of Wellington's earliest settlers, who survives him.
