A VISITOR'S OPINION
High praise for our school dental methods and the Plunkefc system is given by Dr. Cumpaton, Chief Health Officer for Australia. After visiting Great Britain and America, this competent health authority states that he has not seen anywhere any systems as good as these two branches of public health work. His opinion should lead us to value more highly the benefits which have been conferred upon us largely by the self-sacrificing effort and enthusiasm of public-spirited men and women. There is always a danger that we may come to.accept these benefits as a matter of course, and to forget that if the great work begun so well is to prosper and extend it must have the support of the public. For example, it has been freely stated that one of the principal difficulties confronting the workers for safe maternity is the failure of many women to avail themselves of the pre-natal'advice and care freely offered to them. Dr. Cumpston's praise should not make us self-satisfied, but it should induce a warmer feeling of gratitude to our public benefactors' and the resolve to evince that gratitude in the way they would most desireby willing co-operation with them.
