VALUABLE WORK

AT APIA OBSERVATORY.

The value of the work performed at the Apia Observatory, Samoa, was placed on record at a meeting of the International Geodetic and Geophysical Union held at Madrid, Spain, on 7th October, and presided over by Dr. Charles Chree, F.R.S., Director of the Kew Observatory, London. The following resolution was passed by the section of Terrestrial Magnetism and Electricity :— • . "The section records its sense of the great importance of the Apia Observatory, Western Samoa, as a station for obtaining data in terrestrial magnetism and electricity, and expresses the hope that this observatory ■ will be maintained in full activity."
