• Their Excellencies have arranged to leave Wellington on 30th October for a farewell visit to Auckland, returning to Wellington on the evening of 6th November. • . On Thursday morning His Excellency will open the memorial gates at Paraparaumu, and a visit will be paid to Otaki. j Their Excellencies have arranged to arrive in Auckland on the morning of 31st October, and to leave on the evening of .4th November. During the visit, in addition to farewells from several public bodies, His Excellency will be entertained by the Northern Club and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and Her Excellency by the Ladies' Club. - His Excellency will open a bazaar in aid of the Girl Guides on the afternoon of 31st October, and will inspect and address the Girl Guides in the. Town Hall on .the morning of Ist November. He will unveil the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron memorial on' the afternoon of 31st October, and the St. Mary's Cathedral war memorial after morning service on 2nd November. Their Excellencies' have arranged to attend tho races at Ellerslie on Ist and 3rd, and are to receive a civic farewell ou the evening of 3rd November. At 10.30 a.m. on sth November His Excellency has arranged to lay the foun-dation-stono of the soldiers' memorial'at Palmerston North, and later lo open the Royal Show. On Gth November Their Excellencies havo arranged a ' visit in the morning- to Flock House, and on their return to Palmerston they are to receive a civic farewell before leaving for Wellington in the afternoon. His Excellency tho Governor-General this morning paid a visit to the studio of Mr. W. A. Bowring, R. 0.1., to inspect a portrait of the late Bishop Harper, which is being painted for the Christ's College Memorial Hall.

Mr. Nugent Welch has resigned his position on the Art Advisory Committee of ho Wellington Technical College. Colonel and Mrs. 11. I. Ormes and Dr. 11. Hayes are passengers by the Maunganui, which leaves Wellington this afternoon' for Sydney. Mr.. C. Mason, of the Selznick Film Co., is a passenger to Sydney by tho Maunganui, which leaves this afternoon. Mr. B. Whitcomhe, managing director of the firm of Whitcombe and Tombs, accompanied by Mrs. Whitcombe, is leaving by the Maunganui this afternoon for Sydney. A cable message from Fremantle, reporting the arrival of the M aloja, states that Sir George and Lady Fenwick aro passengers in the vessel. Mr. W. A. Low, representing J. G. Williamson's, Ltd., No. 2 Company of Entertainers, has arrived in Wellington .to make arrangements for the opening at tho Grand Opera House. Mr. 0. R. Bendall, general manager of tho Wellington branch of the Royal Exchange Assurance Corporation of London, returned from a visit to Great Britain and Europe by the Manuka yesterday. A Press Association message from Christchurch states that at yesterday's meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors it was resolved, on the recommendation of the Tutorial Class Committee, to offer the position of W.E.A. lecturer in South Canterbury to Harold G. Miller, M.A. (New Zealand), B.A. (Oxon.), of Welliiy.ton. . Mr. E. 11. Hiley, formerly General Manager of New Zealand Railways, arrived from London by the Manuka yesterday. Mr. Hiley is visiting New Zealand and Australia as tho representative of the^ engineering firm of Camell, Laird, and '-Co., to investigate proposals which have been submitted to the firm. Mr. Hiley will remain in the Dominion about three months.
