AUCKLAND, This Day.. The Municipal Conference adopt&l remits urging legilsation to enable town boards to give differential rating on agricultural land. That when returned soldiers' property reverts to the Crown under Government loan, it should not be exempt from rates. Recommending 5 per cent, penalty on rates overdue three months. That property acquired by Government for residential purposes be not exempt from rating. That properties owned or occupied by the Public Trust be made rateable. That no pigs' meat be exposed for public sale or sold unless killed in public abattoirs oi inspected. That the, Town Boards Act be amended by fixing the election for April instead of September, conforming with borough elections. That a clause be inserted in the Valuation of Land Act that if the Governor-in-Coun-cil does not apprbye of ,the acquisition by the Government of land, the ValuerGeneral offer the same for sale at an.upset price equal to the amount specified in the notice. That the Valuation Department be required to state the nature of improvements of each property shown on the rating roll.
