CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd October. The Addington market to-day showed a firming for fat cattle and an easing for mutton. Good classes of dry sheep sold well in the store section,' whilst there was a more brisk demand for store cattle. On the whole tho markqt was a good one. Storo Sheep.—Dry sheep met with a brisk demand, though prices were no better than last week. Ewes and lambs", j which were of inferior class, showed' little change. Woolly halfbred wethers sold well. Forward.four,-six, and eighttooth wethers, shorn, realised 29s lid, four six and eight-toothed shorn wethers 25s 6d to 275, four and six-toothed halfbred woolly wethet* 41s, two-toothed halfbred woolly wethers 40s, shorn and failing-mouthed /wethers 24s 6d. Good three-quarterbred ewe hoggets 43s 3d, good three-quarterbred wether hoggets 32s .to 35s 3d, mixed sexed halfbred hoggets 38s 9d, halfbred wether hoggets 355, small halfbred shorn wether! hoggets 20s Id. Aged three-quarterbred ewes with lambs 21s 4d to 21s 9d (all counted), aged crossbred ewes with lambs 21s 3d to 23s (all counted), inferior aged ewes with Jambs 18s 6d (all counted). Fat Lambs.—The yaTding considerably exceeded butchers'. requirements and. was -cleared at a ahade easier figures than the week before, the average being about lid per 1b- except for a few small lambs. Extra prime ewes C4s, prime 47s 6d to 545, medium 42s 6d to 475, light 36s to 425. Prime shorn wethers 42s to 47s Id, medium 33s ,to 395. Prime shorn owes 32s to 355, medium 29s to 31s 6d, light shorn ewes 26s to 28s 6d. Fat Cattle—4l2 were yarded, including ■60 from the North "-Island and 44 from tlio West Coast. The quality all round wns good, and for prime medium weights tho market was 2a Gd per JOOlb better than tlio previous week. Extra prime heavy steers realised £21 to £25 7s 6d, prime medium-weight steers £18 10s and £21 10s, medium £16 10s to £18 10s, light £13 10s to £16, rough £9 10s to £12. Extra prime heifers £16 17s 6d, prime £13 ■5s to £15, medium £9 10s to £13, light £6 to £9. Extra prime, cows £16 2s 6d, prime £12 5s to £14 ss, ordinary £9 10s to £12, atred £4 10s to £7. , , Vealers. —A fair entry and no change in values. Bunners made to £6 16s, and good vealers £4 15s to £6. Store 'Cattle.—A big line of Marlbor-ough-bred three and four-year-old,steers made from £5 10s to £8 3s. They -were in low conditiqn. . Other entries were rnosUy odds and ends. Dairy Cattle.—A small entry of 110 head. Good cattle sold well. Second, I third, and fourth calvera, springing, made £6 to £9 10s, medium £4 to £5 10s 6d, good springing heifers £7 to £10, medium £3 ,10s to £5 10s. Fat Pigs.—A medium entry with , a stronger demand for rbaconers, but pork was inclined to be a shade easier. Choppers made £3 to £5, light baconers £4 5s .to £4r 15s, heavy £5 to £5 10s, extra heavy £6 (average price per Ib--7^d to fyd), light porkers 50s to 57s 6d, heavy £3 5s to £3 12s (average price per lb 9d to 9£d). Store Pigs.—A fair-sized entry and keen competition. Weaners made 2<ls to . 30s, extra good 84s, small stores 35s to ■10s, medium 45s to -19s, large 06s.
