"THE TEN COMMANDMENTS."
"The Ten Commandments," Paramount's great masterpiece, will open at the De Luxe Theatre on 31st October. It has been decided to make ,thjs "a gala night, and it may. be looked forward to as the biggest, event in theatre, entertainment in the» .history, of New Zealand. It is interesting to note that AV.ellington will have the honour of being the eighth city in the world to screen this picture/ It will be. screened in' New Zealand before it -will be shown in Australia. ' t This is brought about by the fact that it has been a race between three theatres in Australia and New Zealand to screen the picture first. These are three- new theatres, all of which will screen " "The Ten Commandments" as an opening "attraction. This picture is claimed to be the supreme creation of the modern screen. The story is in two parts—a" Biblical prologue set in the time of Pharaoh, and a modern story showing the application of the , Commandments to our modern system of social ethics. It is a mas-' sive subject,/and only Cecil De Mille could have attempted it. It is a tribute to his genius, and a credit to the industry of the motion picture.
