NEW SOUTH WALES v. AUSTRALIA.

In the Howell benefit match, against an Australian eleven, Now South Wales in tho first innings made G45 (Kelleway 101, Carter 58, Mailey not out 25). Hornibrook took two wickets for 141, Grimmett three for 138, and A. Richardson two for 113. Australia has seven wickets down for 2iO (Ratcliffo not out 132, V. Richardson 22, Clem Hill 40). - The weather was fine and the wicket good. Kelloway <!nd Carter put on 99 for the ninth wicket, and for the last Mailey helped Kellewa-v to add 59. With the exception of Ratefme, who gave a flrst-class plucky display against koen bowling and fielding, and the old champion, Clom Hill, the Australia team made a poor showing, and appeared to bo ovoiI burdened by tho enormous scoro piled up I against them.
