SHEEPSKINS, HIDES, AND TALLOW.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports as follows': —"The fortnightly sales for skin, hides, and tallow were held yesterday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and values advanced in some lines. The following is the official range of fjrices:— "Sheepskins: Half bred, 16} dto 22id; fine crossbred, 10$ d to 20? d; medium coarse crossbred, 15>d to 18Jd; short to halfwools, 14d to 173 d; iambs, l&Jd to 20Jd; aead und damaged crossbred, 14d to • 10id; inferior and badly damaged, old to 14Jdpelts, lod to 12Jd; damp salted and green, (is tid to 22s 3d; pelts, salted, 4s to 4s 3d; lambs, salted, 2s Cd to 12s.
Hides: Ox, heavy, 7|d to OJd; ox, medium, «{d to Sid; light, 5d to 6£d; cut, slippy, and inferior, 2Jd to s|d; cow, heavy, oJd to 7id; medium, 4id to OJd; light, 4*d to old cut, slippy; and inferior, 2Sd to sd; bull, fitag, ljd to 3Jd; yearling, Od to 83d; calf superior, lad; medium, OJd to 14id; damaged, Od to 12|dr ,
"Tallow: In casks, 30s to 37s 6d: in tins, 22s (id to 355.
"Sundries: Horsehair, 8d to 17-'-d "For sheepskins, competition was-cxtremclv keen throughout the sale, and a rise of id per lb on last sal price took place. Dfy ekins were in jraod demand, and were if anything, a little firmer. Hides showed a much better tone, and any sound hides were fully Jd |icr lb better than last sale. Calfskins were firm at late rates. Tallow, if anything, was a littlo firmer '■
