FATAL BOXING CONTEST
INQUEST ON RONALD M'CALLUM,
(BI TSLEGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
DUNEDIN, This Day. ' At the inquest on Ronald M'Calfuni, the young man killed at a boxing tournament at Palmerston on 19th September, the Coroner returned a verdict of accidental death from fracture of the base of the skull, remarking that it was one of those unfortunate happenings in every hard sport. He suggested that there should be some kind of padding outside the ring, particularly in amateur bouts. The evidence showed the ring was only 16 feet 5 inches by 16 feet 6 inches, but the Coroner held that this had no bearing on the accident.
