THE DAY, IN PARLIAMENT
Yesterday was a comparatively quiet day in the House of Representatives. The afternoon was spent in asking Ministers questions, and receiving replies—satisfactory or otherwise. In the evening, the House was occupied with Government Bills. After some of the legal lights had made some suggestions for the improvement of the Patents, Designs, and Trademarks Amendment Bill, which was read a second time and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee, the galleries were entertained for about two hours with the views of the representatives of rural districts upon the Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, which relates to the rights of co-operative dairy-companies. The Minister of Agriculture'gave'an assurance that the measure would be referred to the Agricultural Committee in order to permit objectors to.be heard. The Footwear Regulation Amendment Bill and the Scaffolding and Excavation Amendment Bill were read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Labour Bills Committee, and the. House adjourned at 10.50 p.m.
