LOWER HUTT SITTING.
The monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held Yesterday before Mr. C. K. Orr Walker, S.M. '
I A lad pleaded guilty to the theft of a watch valued at £4 and money to the amount of £2 4s 6d, the property of Ching Hong. On receiving a good report of the boy from Senior-Sergeant MKolvey, the Magistrate* decided to adjourn tho caso for three months. The property had already been returned. Failuro to register under the Dofence Act cost Charles Burt 20s and 7s costs and G. Hobman 7s costs only. ' Charged with a similar offence, J. F. Andrews raised tho defence that under tho 1908 Act a boy who was attending a primary school when ho was 14 years of ago was automatically registered,' and on tliis ground tho case was dismissed William Hayes was fined 15s and 7s costs on oach of two charges of allowing stock to wander on the public streets.
_ A case against H. Le Grove of driving a motor-car in a manner dangerous to tho public was dismissed. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the . undefended caso Saunders Sash and Door Factory v. M'Killop and Grants, £154 19s 9d and costs £3 Is. In a judgment summons case, G. Boggard was ordered to pay E. Feist and Co. £6.lis 6d forthwith or suffer five days' imprisonment.
