LONDON, 30th September. During tho course of mi explanation of the situation which had arisen as regards tho murder of Mrs. Evans in Mexico, Mr. Mac Donald said that two men who had voluntarily confessed lo the murder had been committed for trial, therefore the Mexican Government had offered no amends and none had •boon demanded.
Mrs. Rosalie Evans, widow of a. former president of the Bank of London in Mexico, was ehot dead in the vicinity of Texmelucan, in the State of PueWa, on 2nd August. Mrs. Evans was shot through the left side, and, falling from the bu^gy she was driving, her hair caught in the wheels and her body was dragged along- the road and her face badly mutilated. John Strauss, the German manager of the Evans hacienda., *vas seriously wounded on the same occasion. Mrs. Evans had previously been besieged in her home by brigands, who, it was alleged, were countenanced by the Mexican Government. Mr. Cummins the British Charge d'Affaires at Mexico City, fell foul of the Mexican Government over Mrs. Evans's affairs prior to tho murder, and was compelled to return to England, causing a great sensation at the time.
