MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. George Harley, a second offender for drunkenness, was fined 10», in default 48 hours' imprisonment.

On his sixth lapse of insobriety, John O'Brien, alias Cotter, -was fined £3, in default 14 days' imprisonment. A fine of £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, was imposed for a breach of his prohibition order.

On the charge of assaulting William Randall Grean, a steel dresser named Henry Savage was admitted to probation for twelve months.

Albert Stanley Gillespie was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon within twelve months, on a charge of being idle and disorderly. He ib to remain at the Salvation Army Home for the present. Walter George Burton was remanded till Tuesday on the charge of the- alleged theft of a pair of gum-boots and leggings, of a total value of £1 Bs, from C. F. Pulley; \ Accused was admitted to bail in the sum of £50. He was represented by Mr. A. J. Mazengarb. lick, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on three charges of the theft of carpenter's tools of a total value of £2 19s 6d. The terms are to be served concurrently. Mr. R. R. Scott appeared for accused.

Mr. T. H. Coltman, J.P., presided at a sitting of the Mount Cook Police Court yesterday, when 'one first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged.
